Welcome to the 2008 Congress of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists
Dear Colleagues,
The RANZCP 2008 Congress is coming to Melbourne on the 25 – 29 May 2008 at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.
The theme of the congress is “Community and Politics” and will highlight some of the critical issues facing psychiatry in Australia and New Zealand in the first decade of the 21st Century.
One of the primary issues is the need for psychiatry as a profession to acknowledge its inevitable interaction with the community at large and politics at all its levels. The traditional reticence of many to enter these zones of discomfort is seen as no longer a viable option. If psychiatrists wish to continue to act as an effective force for the mentally ill, the need for this broad engagement is obvious.
Come and listen to the views of our international and domestic speakers, while also mingling with colleagues and enjoying the social events the congress can offer you.
